As you all can see, my short break was a little bit longer than expected. I do apologize for that.

Since my last update, Mr. Fred went from bad to worse. While in hospital, he could not stop having small heart attacks that were shooting blood clots into his blood stream causing more strokes. By Wednesday before last, the family was flying  in from all over the West Coast as Mr. Fred's final wishes regarding how he wished to live, and how he wished to go all needed to be shared and carried out.

It was a beautiful thing to be part of the process, from reading to him, keeping him comfortable, to the singing his family did around his beside.

Friday before last he came home to end his life in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family and loved ones. I will not lie and say it was easy or fun. But, I am honored to have been part of Mr. Fred's final choices in life.

Last Monday at 6:55am, Mr. Fred passed. And Wednesday, May 15, 2013, Mr. Fred was laid to rest.

His children, all grown, have lost their last parent. I saw, and still see, pain, remorse, acceptance and love still envelope each of Mr. Fred's children and grandchildren.

My loss is different. Mr. Fred was not my actual family. He was, instead, someone I could mother a bit. Someone I could talk to about theories on life, religion, current events....anything. And he never once acted as though I was silly or ignorant.

My days revolved around Mr. Fred. And now I'm a bit lost without him. But, mostly I'm grateful for having met him, taken care of him and that he is where he wanted to be: With his wife.

I'm taking until Thursday off of blogging due to Mr. Fred being hospitalized. We had to call 911 as per on-call doctor's orders.

As it turns out, he did not have Bell's Palsy as his doctor diagnosed. But, instead had a small stroke and small heart attack. And, just to top it all off, the poor dear has pneumonia. A terrible mix for anyone, much less a 74 year old diabetic.

So, five hours after calling 911, he was finally admitted to the hospital. Needless to say, I barely slept as I was so worried.

But, things are looking up and as soon as the hospital can find the blood clot, he will be out of the woods.

I have a bit more cleaning and resting to do. And, I have to finish coding a new layout for Frugally Fabuloso and write up a movie review. So, looks like Thursday this blog, and myself, will be back to normal.

As some of you know, my life took a hard bank to port in December and continued to do so until recently. However, I'm getting back on track and am back to blogging!

I appreciate everyone bearing with me as I dealt with walking out on an unfaithful man, illness and then a more negative situation.

For those curious, I'm now blogging to you all from California. And the view of the ocean is just amazing! I'm very lucky to be near the ocean again.

I heartily apologize for the lack of content lately. I have been so so sick. I think I caught an odd bug that has been floating around lately. I have barely been able to do much of anything. Which is so very annoying as many of you busy people know.

I hope you love the new look here at Frugally Fabuloso. Working with older coding really gave me some trouble. But, I prevailed and nearly all is done. I'm loving how clean and pretty it looks. Just have to fix the multitude of broken links now...

Update
After finding over 1000 broken links, almost all of them from freebies posted, I've done a major housekeeping and deleted all old and outdated freebie/sale posts. This means it should be much much easier for everyone to find current freebies and deals. What a wonderful person I am right? ;-)

I was also very saddened to see many bloggers I had linked to in various posts as resources had up and vanished as well. That sort of thing makes me feel old in the blogging world. Sure, we all run into the blogging wall, so to speak. But, once one has dedicated oneself to blogging, one should continue or at least let people know they aren't blogging anymore.

Fingers crossed I can keep up with links going dead!

I am pleased to announce that a friend of mine will be joining Frugally Fabuloso as an author. She goes by the handle Dancin Diva but I know her as TT. That is her to the left of this post.

A little background on Dancing Diva...let me see...we met, way back in Call of Duty: Black Ops...so that would be late 2010/early 2011 via her brother. My gaming clan was looking to add a few new players and, while he was not interested, he suggested her.

Despite both her and I being loud opinionated gals, we got along like a house on fire. Since then, we have exchanged tips & recipes, chatted, discussed fishing, family, shared secrets and all that girl stuff, all while playing first person shooters. It would annoy the other team if they realized how many mundane conversations were being had while they were being defeated. But, I digress.

Dancin Diva will be doing all things Xbox 360 Kinect related as well as sharing her weight-loss journey, advice and tips. But, as this blog is a real hodge-podgery, she may post about anything almost that strikes her fancy.

She is a sweet, forward thinking woman and has a heart of gold and curses less than I do while gaming--Everyone, please welcome Dancin Diva!

Do you know that six years ago today is when I lived through one of the USA's worst disasters in it's recorded history? I am of course talking about Hurricane Katrina.

Since that time I have worked hard at my psychological, physical and financial recovery. I have succeeded in some areas, and still not in others.

One of the biggest steps to my recovery was my finally moving from my apartment in the French Quarter to another state. As I am no longer surrounded by people I went through the ordeal with and other survivors, I have been able to make leaps and bounds in my mental well-being. No more do I hear day in and day out about "Woe is me." Everyone around me seemed to revel in their pity party. Everyone I ran into was wanting more of, well, everything. Me, I wanted to earn mine.

That is not to say all Katrina Survivors are this way. Many have gone on to do great things for themselves and others.

Some things that happened, are still too terrible for my mind to cope with and are still boxed up. At regular intervals I open that box and try to face them. I have managed to overcome one. I am still working on the others. Afterall, while time may not heal all, it does soften and provide prospective.

This is why I was in such a panicky state all weekend when Irene was sweeping in. I know many people here on the East Coast and feared for them. Not from the storm itself. Storms we can deal with. But I was frantic to learn of the aftermath. I prayed and sent so much positive energy into the world that none would witness nor experience what I did.

So far, it looks as if my prayers and positive energy have been rewarded. While some have, sadly, perished, none of the violent chaos seems to have ensued.

I was awoken today incredibly early by a tornado warning. Times like that make me glad I can only sleep with the TV on. But, despite grabbing the pot of coffee and adding my sugar and chocolate milk to it, I am still dragging rear. So, with only about half of m To Do List for today accomplished, I think I should pack it in.

On a positive note, I guess this means I have time to play more of the Shivering Isles DLC for Oblivion. I am on my sixth game of Oblivion. The biggest trick to playing Oblivion is to avoid the Priory from the start of the game until you are ready to have the Oblivion Gates everywhere you go. Then, I would have to say getting a house is important to stash your stuff. Personally I bought the house in the Imperial City then stole the upgrades to cut some in-game financial corners.

Isn't it odd how the characters we play in video games are not who the people we are in our day to day life?

Also, I am nearly done testing the Fishing Spots for The Sims 3 for Xbox 360 and in sometime in the next 30 days I should have it up for all you Sims game lovers.
